Eastbound lanes of Highway 71 reopen after 18-wheeler crash, diesel spill

LAKEWAY, Texas (KXAN) -- The eastbound lanes of Highway 71 near FM 620 are back open after all lanes of the highway were closed due to an 18-wheeler crashing into a drum of diesel and spilling it all over the roadway. Lakeway Police tweeted at 5:21 a.m. Wednesday that all lanes of 71 were shut down between Great Divide Drive and Bee Cave Parkway. That area is near the Hill Country Galleria. Real time traffic map In another tweet at 7:36 a.m., Lakeway Police said one eastbound lane reopened but all westbound lanes were still closed, and it may take hours to clean up the diesel. By 8:56 a.m., all eastbound lanes had reopened, according to Lakeway PD's Twitter. The westbound lanes are still closed while crews work to clean the diesel on the road. Traffic is being diverted to Bee Cave Parkway and FM 620. Bee Cave Police said the 18-wheeler hit a 500-gallon tank of diesel on 71 near Great Divide Drive, and the diesel spilled all over the road. EarthShare Texas supports better air quality, develops green building technology, protects the environment and does wildlife rehabilitation.Francoise Van Keuren is the executive director of EarthShare Texas. WILTON, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Queens man was arrested and is accused of sexual abuse. Rajesh Kumar, 33, is charged with first-degree sexual abuse. According to New York State Police, on April 6, around 10:45 p.m., troopers received a complaint of unwanted sexual contact on a mass transit bus in Wilton. Police say an investigation determined Kumar allegedly had forcible unwanted sexual contact with the victim. Kumar was arrested at Wilton State Police and was processed. (NEWS10) -- The Albany Police Department has arrested Isaiah Anderson, 37, of Troy, and charged him with one count of Murder in the Second Degree and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. At around 4:20 a.m. on Sunday, police located Alonzo Ford, 60, with multiple gunshot wounds inside a home on the 500 block of Morris Street. GRANITE CITY, Ill. -- A series of false threats to Illinois schools has put administrators, police, and parents on alert. Colorado State Patrol Troopers appealed for help from the public Wednesday after a 16-year-old girl crossing a road in a crosswalk north of Denver in Adams County was killed in a hit-and-run collision.“A red Dodge Magnum hit and killed” the girl Tuesday, “then fled the scene” near the intersection of 76th Avenue and Leyden Street north of Denver, state patrol officials announced in a news release.“The Dodge Magnum was traveling east on 76th Avenue when it struck the pedestrian in the crosswalk,” the release stated.That vehicle should have damage to the front headlights, officials said.The driver had not been identified Wednesday morning and the license plate was unknown.State patrol troopers asked for help, urging anybody who witnessed the crash or who has any information to contact dispatchers at 303-239-4501.Latest news
